New Directions
With the support of the Arts Council of Wales and Moondance Foundation, during 2020, through the period of the global covid-19 pandemic, Craig and Lewis Merthyr Band will commission a series of new works from a selection of composers, as follows:
- Steve Bingham: Ascension
- Chris Marshall: Fulling Mill Lea
- Chris Marshall: Homecoming
- Andrew Powell: The Curious Case of The Hawk & The Wolf
- Grace Williams / Trans. Painter: Mountain Scene (from The Blue Scar)
The band will also explore the following existing, yet rarely performed, works:
- Mervyn Burtch: Hiraeth
- Stephen Roberts: World Dances
- Mick Wilson: Concerto for Six String Electric Violin & Brass Band
- Gareth Wood: Concerto For Harp & Brass Band
