The principal aims of the Crete International Festival of Arts are:
- to promote the rich cultural and historical heritage of Crete and Greece, and a positive image of Greece internationally
- to extend the peak summer tourist season of Crete, and attract to the island tourists focused upon culture, history and the arts
- to stimulate the creation of local employment opportunities within the framework of the festival
- to raise the international profile and individual attributes of the various bodies partnering the festival
- to enhance the commercial position and international profile of CIFA sponsors
